### Font Introduction

The Lotte Mart "The Jamsil Font," a youthful and newly transformed font.

Lotte Mart announced its new vision as "Everyday New Store" in 2022 to break free from its outdated brand image. To provide customers with a youthful and transformed Lotte Mart experience, the company embarked on a font development project. "The Jamsil Font" is a new attempt to fuse Lotte Mart's brand image with the historical significance of Jamsil, a district in Seoul. Recognizing that Lotte's heritage is directly linked to Jamsil, the company chose the district name as the font's name. "The Jamsil Font" is designed in Korean, English, Vietnamese, and Indonesian to showcase the beauty of the Korean language globally and promote Jamsil as a representative district of Korea.

### Font Concept

“Jamsil” means “a place to raise silkworms.”

Jamsil means "a place to raise silkworms" in Korean. In the past, the Jamsil area was a place where sericulture was encouraged.

Before designing the font, the team pondered how to showcase Lotte's heritage in a new way. They decided to incorporate the “silkworm,” a historical symbol of Jamsil, into the design.

### Design Features

1. The lifecycle of a silkworm is incorporated into the font design.

“The Jamsil Font” captures the essence of Lotte Mart’s transformation by incorporating contemporary interpretations of the silkworm's lifecycle: from its head raised to eat mulberry leaves, the process of spinning a cocoon, to the final stage of extracting silk from the cocoon.

- **Silkworm Cocoon:** The shape of the Korean letter ‘O,’ which plays a crucial role in shaping the overall impression of a Korean font, incorporates the round and elongated shape of a silkworm cocoon, reflecting Jamsil's heritage and Lotte Shopping’s strong foundation.

- **Silk Thread:** The silk thread, meticulously spun without any disruptions, evokes a sense of vibrancy and symbolizes Lotte Mart’s stringent standards in achieving the best possible outcome.

- **Silkworm’s Head:** The design of the ‘vowel’ takes inspiration from the "jamdumaje" (a basic technique in calligraphy), incorporating a contemporary interpretation of the silkworm head at the end of each stroke.

2. The font is comfortable to read, from small to large sizes.

3. It comes in six different weights, making it versatile for various applications.
